Keep Irving Beautiful to Sponsor “Don't Mess with Texas Trash-Off” April 7 - Texas’ Signature Event of the Great American Cleanup
Irving, TX, March 02, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Keep Irving Beautiful (KIB) is sponsoring the “Don’t Mess with Texas Trash-Off,” part of the state’s signature event for the nationwide “Great American Cleanup” program, and a partnership with Keep Texas Beautiful and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). Like many Texas communities across the state, Irving will have a cleanup on the official Trash-Off date, April 7, at Trinity View Park from 9:00 a.m. to noon. KIB will provide the cleanup supplies – safety vests, gloves, litter pickers and trash/recycle bags - and even serve lunch afterwards. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and are asked to sign up online at the KIB website, www.keepirvingbeautiful.org.
Last year’s event, also held at Trinity View Park, drew 213 volunteers who collected and stopped 2,250 pounds of trash and recyclables from reaching the nearby Elm Fork of the Trinity River. “This event typically attracts people who have a common interest in caring for the environment, whether that are from Irving or another community,” said KIB Board President Jim Scrivner. “We feel that the Trash-Off is much more than just picking up litter. It’s a great way to meet other like-minded people and really feel that you have done your part in helping to keep our public spaces beautiful.”
