Otava Ltd. and Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at University of Edinburgh Announce Research Collaboration
Kyiv, Ukraine, March 02, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Otava Ltd., a leading Ukrainian company that specializes in drug discovery technologies, and Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at University of Edinburgh, Cancer Research UK-p53 Signal Transduction Laboratories (UK), have announced plans for an integrated research project focused on a kinase targets.
In terms of the project, Otava will perform virtual screening to identify a set of compounds that might display protein kinase inhibitory activity. In addition, Otava’s scientists will carry out all tasks associated with organic synthesis and chemical optimization.
Scientists from Cancer Research UK-p53 Signal Transduction Laboratories are responsible for biological in vitro tests concerning determination of the kinase inhibitory activity of selected compounds including enzymatic assays and cell tests.
About Otava
Otava supplies fine organic chemicals including unique building blocks for combinatorial organic synthesis. They provide compound libraries for screening, custom synthesis, molecular modeling services, targeted compound libraries and protein kinase inhibitors, prescreened anticancer compounds, peptide and chromogenic substrates. They offer design and development of fluorescent probes, kits and reagents.
About Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at University of Edinburgh
Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at University of Edinburgh (Cancer Research UK-p53 Signal Transduction Laboratories) is a translational research centre that strive for excellence in basic science research and seek to bridge from the laboratory to the clinic and back again. It is outward looking and interdisciplinary: principle investigators comprise biochemists, geneticists, oncologists, chemists, pathologists, psychiatrists, surgeons, family practitioners, palliative medicine specialists, cell biologists. There are extensive local collaborative links particularly to the Medical Research Council Human Genetics Unit, and also external collaborators.
