Black Belt Community Foundation Unveils New Head Start Facility in Selma
Will Host Open House for Community, Leaders and Media on Thursday March 15th from 4pm-5:30pm.
Selma, AL, March 14, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Renovations at the former Easter Seals facility located at 2906 Citizens Parkway in Selma have been ongoing since last fall and are now complete. Since March 1st, BBCF Head Start has been operating classes in five newly appointed class rooms. Early Head Start will soon follow suit with the start of classes in four other new classrooms, also on site. The 11,000 sq. ft. facility has been totally renovated and is even equipped with a state of the art culinary center and exciting new playground.
BBCF President Felecia Lucky states:
"BBCF is honored to be the Head Start administrator for Dallas, Choctaw, Marengo and Wilcox counties. As our newly renovated Head Start facility is unveiled here in Selma, we are witnessing the concrete, tangible and physical proof that our hard work over the last year is paying off and moving the bar forward to help close the achievement gap for the children and families here in Dallas County and the Black Belt. The public trust that Head Start has placed in us is well-placed, but perhaps, even stronger than the bricks, mortar and concrete of this building will be the solid steps upward that the Black Belt Community Foundation Head Start program brings to children and their families. Under the leadership of our Head Start Director Patricia Stiles there is no doubt these are steps that will improve hundreds and thousands of lives with new opportunities moving forward."
On Thursday, March 15th from 4 - 5:30pm after the day's classes have concluded, BBCF will take part in hosting an open house event at the new facility. State, city, regional and local leaders will join educators, HS staff and BBCF leadership to celebrate this new milestone. Media and the public are invited to learn more first-hand by touring the facility and engaging with the HS staff and experts on site.
