Ultimate Fighting Fans Rejoice... Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Classes Are Now Available in Waynesboro, Virginia
Mixed Martial Arts Fans can now enjoy the benefits, fun and exhilaration of training in the fast growing sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Annese Martial Arts in Waynesboro, Virginia. Classes are provided on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings with instructor Andrew Prickett.
Waynesboro, VA, March 04, 2008 --(PR.com)-- With the increased interest in The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), The Hit Reality Shows “The Ultimate Fighter”, “Human Weapon”, and “Fight Quest,” all styles of Mixed Martial Arts are starting to hit the mainstream, people finally are getting to see what styles of fighting, fitness and strength conditioning are really all about.
So, with this increase in popularity, Owners Frank and Michelle Annese of Annese Martial Arts of Waynesboro decided to provide a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program.
“We are excited about the program,” says Frank Annese. “We are black belts in karate, but the BJJ (brazilian jiu-jitsu) complements what we're already doing. It adds ground and wrestling techniques to our repertoire”.
Instructor Andrew Prickett has been studying BJJ for several years. His past instructors are a who’s who of the BJJ community including Raniere Garcez, Andrew Smith, Eric Burdo, Lamont Tyler, Roberto Nerry, Jamie Ridgeway, Pedro Sauer and now Marcello Montiero (a Richardo De La Riva and Gracie Black Belt).
Michelle Annese says “We are very fortunate to have such great talent available to us here in Virginia and in the States. We are pushing forward with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training with Brazil’s top Black Belt throughout the year. We have plans to host a seminar with Mr. Marcello Montiero here in April. He has won numerous world championships and produced some of the sports top tournament winners." Annese adds, "It's terrific for local practioners who would otherwise have to travel to receive the same training. Now it's here locally.”
