First Service Credit Union Offering Fraud and Identity Theft Seminar March 20
Houston, TX, March 16, 2018 --(PR.com)-- First Service Credit Union is hosting an educational seminar March 20 to teach consumers how to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.
The free event will address the four most common methods of fraud and identity theft and what consumers can do to protect themselves. It will also explain how to tell if they have become a fraud victim and how best to respond.
The seminar, titled “Four Modern Fraudster Tactics and How to Combat Them,” will be held Tuesday, March 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the First Service Spring Cypress Branch, located at 8640 Spring Cypress Road.
Frank Halstead, First Service’s Chief Risk Officer, will lead the seminar. He will discuss ATM skimmers, smartphone safety, data breaches, and the Dark Web.
Texas had the second highest number of cybercrime victims in the nation in 2016 and received the 12th highest number of complaints of identity theft that year, as recorded by the Internet Crime Complaint Center and the FCC.
“The fact that Texas has such a high number of cybercrime victims should motivate every Texan to take steps to safeguard their personal finances and identity,” said Frank Halstead. “The purpose of this seminar is to arm consumers with tools that will protect them from becoming a victim.”
