Prince William Academy Receives SAIS Accreditation
PWA has received a coveted accreditation from the Southern Association of Independent Schools, in recognition of the quality of its programming.
Woodbridge, VA, March 21, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Prince William Academy, a private school located in Lake Ridge, VA, announced today that it has received accreditation from the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS).
To earn accreditation from SAIS, PWA undertook a process that spanned over a year and half and required the school to comply with quality standards, undergo evaluation by an outside group of peer professionals, and implement a school plan focused on strategic improvement and student performance.
According to its mission statement, “Prince William Academy enables each student to meet their academic, developmental, and social potential. We believe in the importance of diversity and respect, and prepare our students to excel in a global environment.” Part of the SAIS accreditation process required that PWA demonstrate adherence to its mission, and a plan for growth in accordance with it.
SAIS accredited member schools are part of an international network of accredited schools that have demonstrated success in educating children. As such, SAIS accreditation is recognized throughout the world as a symbol of quality in education for students and teachers. The mission of SAIS is to provide leadership, accreditation services, and professional development resources that will strengthen member schools as they fulfill their missions.
Prince William Academy welcomes this newest accreditation as part of its ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality in education. PWA is now the only school in Prince William County to be accredited by SAIS, the Virginia Independent Schools Association (VISA), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and the American Camp Association (ACA). “These many accreditations demonstrate our commitment to our stakeholders, especially our students,” says Dr. Samia Harris, the school’s founder and Executive Director. “We believe in accountability, and these accreditations mean we are accountable not just to ourselves and our clients, but to other bodies whose job is to make sure we maintain the highest standards.”
Prince William Academy was founded in 1986, and opened its current campus, located at 3480 Commission Court in Lake Ridge, VA, in 2004. The school is comprised of an Infant and Toddler Center, a Preschool and Jr. Kindergarten, Elementary School, and Middle School. Currently, PWA has about 180 students and 35 staff members.
According to its website, www.pwaed.com, PWA maintains a rigorous curriculum, with students often performing at a grade level ahead. The school also offers a foreign languages program; all students take Spanish, and students ages 4 and up choose an additional language to study—either Arabic or Mandarin.
Prince William Academy offers tours every weekday between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm. Parents are encouraged visit the school’s website or call 703-491-1444 to schedule one.
