Lynn D. Lasher Recognized as a Professional of the Year by Strathmore's Who's Who Worldwide Publication

Lynn Lasher is the CEO of Somebody’s Mother’s Chocolate Sauce LLC, which produces and distributes chocolate sauce dessert toppings nationally. She is responsible for overall operations and consulting. She sells products to restaurants, supermarkets, grocery stores and retail chains. In honor of the sacrifices and love that mother’s give instinctively, Lynn decided to have quotes about mothering or parenting on the jar lids of her products. They have 36 different lids and she loves to see them on the shelf askew because she then knows that someone was looking for just the right quote.
When her children were little, Lynn had lemonade stands outside a neighborhood grocery store and tried to make the experience more real by discussing break even, product quality and service; things besides just sales. One Saturday, in the same store, she saw a really nice man named Roy Garcia, demoing his salsa. She asked him how he got the sauce from being an idea to the grocery store shelf. He gave her the short version. She then decided to sell a food product, too, namely a chocolate sauce her mother had made for them growing up. The following Monday, she started the company.
Ms. Lasher states, “I started Somebody’s Mother’s in April 2005 to teach my 3 children how to start a business and, more importantly, how to take matters into their own hands and to assume responsibility for their own financial wellbeing.”
Ms. Lasher is really proud of a couple of things in particular about her company. One, they have managed to get this far without incurring debt which meant their growth has been slower than it might have otherwise been. However, it gave them the opportunity to learn from mistakes made on a smaller rather than a larger stage. They make a really good product, now six dessert toppings, and they have an incredibly high rate of customer retention. Most importantly, two of her three kids have become entrepreneurs themselves and the third one will eventually become one, too, she feels sure. Of course, not one of her children works for Somebody’s Mother’s (yet) but they often tell her how much they learned not only about business, but about resilience. Lynn comes from a long line of entrepreneurs and her father used to tell her and her siblings that if they worked for themselves, they would never be fired and that even if they sold peanuts, they should have their own peanut stands. This entrepreneurial drive has continued with her children.
Born on November 28, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Lynn obtained an M.B.A. from Rice University in 1979. She is affiliated with the N.A.P.W. In her spare time she enjoys tennis, golf and her grandchildren.
