Makefield Women's Association Reaches $200,000 Milestone for Local Charities
Yardley, PA, March 24, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Makefield Women's Association (MWA) announced that they have surpassed a fundraising milestone of over $200,000 in donations to local non profits in the past ten years. The group will celebrate at their April membership meeting where this year’s proceeds will be distributed to their annual beneficiaries. Recipients include A Woman’s Place, Penndel Food Pantry, Family Services Bucks County Homeless Shelter, Wrapping Presence, Yardley-Makefield Fire Company, and Pennsbury Scholarships.
MWA members look forward to the April meeting because it is an opportunity to hear directly from their beneficiaries about how the proceeds from MWA’s annual fundraising efforts will be used to help their causes.
MWA is a small organization consisting of about 30 active members, but they make a big impact. Jennifer Ketler, MWA President, said about reaching the milestone “This makes the impact of our work really sink in. We work together throughout the year, and it’s wonderful to be able to give back to our neighbors in Bucks County in this way.”
In addition to fundraising, the group is actively involved in community service projects, including meal making for Aid for Friends, organizing events for the young residents of FSA’s Homeless Shelter, and keeping their three mile stretch of Edgewood Road in Lower Makefield clean through Adopt-a-Highway. Ketler states, “Giving our time and energy is also important, which is why we participate in service activities together.”
While members are celebrating this milestone, they are also getting ready for their largest fundraiser of the year. The 4th Annual MWA Designer Bag Bingo event will take place on Friday, April 27th at St. Frances Cabrini in Fairless Hills. The Bingo Committee is busy finalizing plans, wrapping designer bags for presentation, and collecting donations for the premium raffle baskets.
The event has become a tradition for many community members who enjoy a night out for a good cause said Publicity Chairperson Tiffany Wichert. “We always have a great time. This year many local businesses have come together to support MWA’s community efforts. We have amazing raffle donations - it’s going to be a fun night of winning!” MWA donates all proceeds from fundraising events to their community beneficiaries.
