Proteos, Inc. Honored as One of the 2018 “Best Small Business Honorees”

Kalamazoo, MI, March 24, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Proteos, Inc. has been recognized as one of the 2018 “Best Small Businesses,” an awards program presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business.

Proteos will receive the SmartZone Best Small Business of the Year Award and be honored at an awards ceremony during the fourteenth annual Michigan Celebrates Small Business gala event, May 3, 2018 in Lansing, Mich.

Proteos is a contract research organization specializing in the production of recombinant proteins and antibodies for the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life science communities. Proteos provides high-quality services to researchers across the globe that are focused on early discovery and proof-of-concept research in numerous disease areas.

Founded in 2003 by Clark W. Smith, PhD. and Robert L. Heinrickson, PhD., Proteos is located within the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine (WMed) Innovation Center in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Proteos was one of the first tenants of the Innovation Center and is currently an anchor tenant occupying 8,000 sq. ft. of laboratory space and additional office space.

Companies recognized as a “Best Small Business” through Michigan Celebrates Small Business were selected by their regional Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC), Small Business Development Center (SBDC), or SmartZone. Honorees are selected based on their demonstration of successful growth and contributions to the economy of Michigan.

Winners were selected by Michigan-based judges from the banking, economic development, entrepreneurship development, and venture capital communities.

Michigan 50 Companies to Watch is presented by Michigan Celebrates Small Business. The program received over 600 award nominations in 2018.
