New Show "Lake Winfield" Dares to Tackle Queerness During the Era of Slavery in the Southern U.S.

Los Angeles, CA, March 26, 2018 --(PR.com)-- “We know what you must be thinking,” explains Jared Walker, creator of "Lake Winfield." “Please, not another slave narrative.” Bawn TV disagreed and took on "Lake Winfield," an ambitious, adventurous period piece set in 1860.

Jared believes we live in a post-GET OUT visual world. “...where we as POC can tell our stories, our way.” “Slave stories are tiring, I agree. But, we also can’t just ignore that as Black America, it is a part of our history. The winners of history shape the narrative, so why not allow us as creators to come together and reshape such a disgusting history into something that can uplift us all,” says Jared.

This show hits so many points! Strong female character development, underrepresented Native American culture, black mother/daughter relationships that is both layered and colorful, dope unapologetic trans characters, and gay love that has never been shown in this type of historical context until now.

Lake Winfield (Instagram: @LakeWinfieldTV) is supported by Anthony Bawn of Bawn TV, a prominent voice in Black LGBT media culture, with shows such as BawnTV original, Cheetah in August and HereTVs BlackVille. The show is spearheaded by music video director, Jared Walker, this being his debut narrative piece.

90% POC on staff as well as a healthy mix of women and men as key crew members, talk about an inclusion rider!

On staff is Wardrobe Stylist Luis Reyes (WGN’s Underground), Production Designer Maria Garcia, and Art Director Tiffany Luke (GEEKSZN). The Writing staff includes Adam Van Dyke (Murder Springs) and Eliyannah Yisrael (Hermoine Granger and the Quarter Life Crisis).
