AWA Asks Animal Lovers to Dust Off Their Sneakers and Race for Homeless Pets
The Animal Welfare Association’s (AWA), Annual 5K Race and Doggie Fun Day is Saturday, May 19 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, NJ. AWA counts on funds raised from the event to provide shelter and medical care to over 2,000 homeless dogs and cats AWA adopts out every year.
Voorhees, NJ, March 28, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Animal Welfare Association’s (AWA) Annual Paws and Feet Run 5K Race and Doggie Fun Day presented by the Camden County Board of Freeholders is scheduled for Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Cooper River Park in Pennsauken, NJ. AWA counts on money raised from the event to provide shelter and medical care to the more than 2,000 homeless dogs and cats AWA adopts out each year. Last year, animal lovers and members of the community helped raise over $100,000 for homeless pets in need.
“Most people will do anything for the love of a pet or to help one that needs their help,” says Maria Clarke, AWA’s director of events, business and community relations. "We want folks to come out with their four-legged friends and have some fun while helping us raise the funds necessary to help more people and pets this summer."
After the race/walk, people and their dogs can participate in a fun-filled day of AWA’s signature activities for people and their pets. Food vendors will be serving up great food, there will be music, contests and more.
Returning this year is Doggie Days Demos starring Janie Harris and her lovely dogs, Booker T, HOTS and Bailey. These and other performance dogs will dazzle onlookers with their high-flying leaps in the air, tricks and interactive games. Dogs can bob for hot dogs, play musical sit, run through the agility course, romp and splash in the doggie swimming pools and grab a doggie mock-tail at AWA’s own “Barktini™ Bar” for dogs. Attendees can even make ice cream sundaes for their dogs at the Ice Cream Sundae Bar.
The Camden County Board of Freeholders are co-hosts of this great event. “The Freeholders do so much for pet-friendly programming in our community, including supporting our big fundraiser which brings together families and their dogs. There are lots of fun family and dog-friendly things to do at this event,” adds Clarke.
