Students Further Studies with Fencing Masterclass
Oswestry, United Kingdom, March 30, 2018 --(PR.com)-- North Shropshire College (NSC) level 3 year two sport students were recently treated to a series fencing masterclass courtesy of Bridie Lloyd of Phenzync. The classes formed part of their studies, and were designed to help develop their practical and individual techniques and skills, as well as helping them to learn the rules and regulations of fencing.
Three sessions were organised in total, and the students were put through their paces learning foil techniques such as blocking and parrying, the different types of fencing from Foil to Epee and Sabre, and the rules and regulations of the sport. To test their knowledge further, a fencing themed quiz was also organised at the end of each session to test the students’ aptitude for what they had learnt.
Paul Clark, sport lecturer at NSC comments, “The fencing sessions have enhanced our curriculum delivery. Practical individual sports traditionally involved badminton and short tennis for many years. Fencing has given the unit a new lease of life, the students have enjoyed participating in activities that they would normally never do. It has had a positive effect on participation and achievement through fun practical and relevant theory tasks to support assessment criteria. Both staff and pupils thoroughly enjoyed it.”
