NACCE Adds President Richard MacLennan to Its Board of Directors
NACCE Welcomes New Board Member Richard MacLennan of North Idaho College.
Springfield, MA, March 31, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE), the nation’s leading organization focused on promoting entrepreneurship through community colleges, has named Richard MacLennan, Ed.D., president of North Idaho College (NIC) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, as a member of its board of directors.
MacLennan has been president of NIC since 2016. He is responsible for the recent launch of the college’s Co-Creation Center, a 35,000-square-foot center for entrepreneurship, creativity and collaboration for the college and the entire North Idaho community. The center includes a new 8,500 square-foot makerspace. President MacLennan has recently convened the newly formed Co-Creation Alliance, consisting of approximately 25 key ecosystem participants to help build out the concept and provide mentoring, support, and funding.
“We are delighted to have President MacLennan as a member of the NACCE board,” said NACCE Chair Susan May, Ed.D., president of Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, Wisconsin. “He is a proven leader and innovator who will help NACCE continue its critical mission of promoting entrepreneurship through community colleges across the country and beyond.”

MacLennan completed his doctorate in education and educational innovation at Wilmington University. He earned his master’s degree at Oregon State University and his bachelor’s degree at Portland State University (PSU). While at PSU he worked as a veterans work-study student in the office of the vice president for student affairs. It was this experience as an undergraduate that prompted his interest in pursuing a career in higher education.
MacLennan recently completed a three-year term on the AACC Economic and Workforce Development Commission and currently serves on the Jobs Plus board of directors of the Coeur d’Alene Area Economic Development Corporation. He is also a member of the Coeur d’Alene Chamber of Commerce Executive Roundtable.
