RAD Launches Compact Multiservice Gateway for Critical Infrastructure Communications
Mahwah, NJ, April 05, 2018 --(PR.com)-- RAD, the leader in secure communications solutions for critical infrastructure, today announced the release of the Megaplex-1, a compact, highly reliable multiservice pseudowire access gateway that addresses the needs of critical infrastructure utilities, transportation and government network operators migrating to next-generation Carrier Ethernet or IP/MPLS communications.
Critical infrastructure network operators have relied on legacy time-division multiplexing (TDM) communications for decades, but equipment manufacturers are discontinuing the use of this technology and forcing a move to packet communications. The Megaplex-1’s pseudowire capabilities emulate TDM connections over packet networks, allowing continued use of legacy equipment and enabling a phased migration to packet-based communications.
Part of RAD’s Service Assured Networking (SAN) solution for Critical Infrastructure communications, the Megaplex-1 boasts powerful capabilities and a small, 1U form factor, thereby introducing significant space, power and cabling savings. It supports serial, PDH, high and low speed data, analog voice, and Teleprotection devices, with robust cyber security and management capabilities. It also performs ultra-fast hitless restoration with consistent (no variation) latency and easy implementation of performance monitoring tools.
“The Megaplex-1 is a valuable enabler for critical network operation,” says Ophir Fux, VP Critical Infrastructure Division at RAD. “It allows them to face this TDM sunsetting and migrate any service over any network at their own pace. More than that, it provides them with much needed peace of mind by ensuring deterministic performance, maximum service uptime and reliable resiliency.”
The Megaplex-1 will be officially launched at the UTCAL Summit April 3-6 in Rio de Janeiro.
About RAD
RAD is a leader in secure communications solutions for critical infrastructure. Our Service Assured Networking solutions enable critical infrastructure (utilities, transportation, government) network operators to evolve any service over any network. By allowing operators to decouple service evolution from network evolution, we assist them in migrating at a pace that is right for them. They can leverage existing resources and prolong the use of a large variety of their current legacy interfaces and equipment, as well as maintain network and service performance to guarantee mission-critical operations. RAD’s solutions include best-of-breed tools for TDM and packet operational WAN, Industrial IoT backhaul, fixed and mobile wireless broadband, and ruggedized LAN, as well as cyber shield and performance monitoring for critical infrastructure. Founded in 1981, RAD has an installed base of more than 16 million units and is a member of the $1.3 billion RAD Group of companies, a world leader in communications solutions. http://www.RAD.com
