A Caregivers Hope; a Conference Dedicated to Caregivers
A Caregivers Hope, an annual conference, will bring together Austin's foremost nonprofits in the senior care giving industry to answer questions for those managing their loved ones' care. Attendees at the conference will learn how to improve the life of the person they are caring for while better caring for themselves, so they can be the best caregiver possible.
Austin, TX, April 14, 2018 --(PR.com)-- A Caregivers Hope, an annual conference, will bring together Austin's foremost nonprofits in the senior caregiving industry to answer questions for those managing their loved ones' care. Attendees at the conference will learn how to improve the life of the person they are caring for while better caring for themselves, so they can be the best caregiver possible.
Kitchen Table Conversations founder Garrick Colwell will give the conference's keynote speech. Colwell is a Respecting Choices® Person-Centered Care First Steps® Advance Care Planning certified instructor and facilitator. He has been a hospice volunteer since 1987 and serves as a volunteer on-call hospital and hospice chaplain. Colwell also is a certified Grief Recovery Specialist. He will provide information to attendees that will help them plan for the future.
Attendees will spend the day with industry experts and other caregivers immersed in discussions to support them in their caregiver role. Two separate panels will discuss the different ways care can be provided and how to pay for the care. Those speakers include: Patty Bordie, Area Agency on Aging of the Capital Area director; Margaret Bryant, a Medicaid consultant; Lorna Allen, of New York Life Insurance Company; Michael Gill, owner of Texas Senior Living Locators; Bill Witt, of the Senior Resource Center; David Cook, Reverse Mortgage consultant, Dr. Char Hu, Founder of The Helping Bees; and Alice Latino, a Heavenly Care Home Health co-founder.
A special presentation will be made by Jeff Sloan, board member from the dog alliance called, "Unleashing the therapeutic power of dogs."
As a community resource for the senior community, the Austin Senior Resource Alliance along with the Area Agency on Aging are hosts with Belmont Village Lakeway participating as a sponsor for the conference dedicated to Austin caregivers.
