Creative Rush 5K May 6, 9:30am Presented by Peters Valley School of Craft
5K hosted by Peters Valley School of Craft. Course is on a rural, completely closed road through the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Funds raised from this 5K will go towards Peters Valley's Youth Art and Craftsmen at Work Programs.
Layton, NJ, April 21, 2018 --(PR.com)-- This rural 5K race takes place on completely closed, traffic free roads within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, among the sprawling, campus of the internationally recognized Peters Valley School of Craft. The 5K race is the kick-off to the family friendly Annual Open House & Studio Tours Event, featuring professional artists, live music, food, studio tours, hands on activities, and demonstrations in their professional studios.
Funds raised will support their Youth Art & Craftsmen at Work programs. The Youth Art Program engages ages 7 – 17 through hands on activities in blacksmithing, glass, woodworking, weaving, painting/drawing, costuming, photography, printmaking, fine metals, etc. The Craftsmen at Work Program provides artist demonstrations and workshops in schools throughout the tristate area and at public events. Money raised will help offer at least one local school a free Craftsmen at Work program in 2018.

Peters Valley's mission is to enrich lives through the learning, appreciation and practice of the art of fine craft. Creative practice has many overarching benefits to health and humanity such as developing imagination, innovation, community, self-renewal and creative problem solving. All participants are encouraged to stay after the race for their Open House & Studio Tours - explore blacksmithing, ceramics, fine metals, photography, fiber arts, woodworking, glass, printmaking... watch demonstrations and even try your hand at a craft. Free event 11am - 4pm.
