Book Published: Understanding Landscape Holistically Promotes Responsible Stewardship
The new book "Sacred Geography" is a guide based on 30 years experience in the field of geomancy and earth healing.
New York, NY, March 06, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Accupunture, massage, and homeopathy are gaining acceptance as alternative ways to heal one’s body. Similar holistic approaches exist to healing the wounded Earth, but in order to do so, a person much be in touch with systems of the earth that are not readily visible. “Geomancy” is an ancient word denoting the knowledge of the invisible and visible dimensions of the Earth and its landscapes. Author Marko Pogacnik sees geomancy as an essential complement to modern geography, which is exclusively interested in one level of reality only.
Marko Pogacnik has developed, taught, and practiced geomancy for 30 years of environmental healing, in which time his book Sacred Geography has been in the making. Sacred Geography is the consummate synthesis of Marko’s thinking and practical work.
The author describes the essence and purpose of this book not only as a theoretical introduction to the worlds of sacred geography, but primarily as a practical guide through different dimensions of place and landscape. The text is brought alive and illustrated with nearly 200 original drawings that accompany the exercises and practical examples from around the world.
Sacred Geography: Geomancy, Co-Creating the Earth Cosmos, is available from SteinerBooks.

He was part of the international art group OHO, working in the fields of conceptual and land art in the 60s, with exhibitions worldwide, including at MOMA New York. In 1971 he founded a rural artistic community and spiritual center in Slovenia called the “Sempas Family,” with work exhibiting in the Venice Biennale. He teaches courses on geomancy and personal development in the United States, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
