Buckfire Law Names 2018 Law School Diversity Scholarship Winner
Southfield, Michigan-based personal injury law firm announces the winner of the 2018 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Law School Scholarship.
Southfield, MI, April 27, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Buckfire Law is pleased to announce that Sarah Camiscoli has been named the recipient of the 2018 Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Law School Diversity Scholarship.
The Law School Diversity Scholarship program was established in 2013 as part of Buckfire Law’s initiative to recognize outstanding law school students who are committed to promoting diversity in their communities.
Camiscoli, who previously worked as an English as a Second Language teacher in New York City, will be attending Yale Law School this upcoming fall.
Her time in the classroom exposed Camiscoli to the inequalities that students face within New York City’s segregated and under-resourced schools. This experience inspired her to found IntegrateNYC, an organization that convenes students across segregated schools to design solutions for school integration and equity.
As IntegrateNYC expanded, questions of pursuing litigation and policy change emerged, leading Camiscoli on the path toward law school.
“As an alumnus, I envision doing impact litigation with the burgeoning IntegrateUS national network to file complaints on behalf of impacted student leaders,” Camiscoli said.
Through her work with IntegrateNYC, Camiscoli collaborates with the National Coalition on School Diversity and the New York Lawyers for the Public Interest on issues of equity and inclusion. She has also facilitated workshops with students at Rutgers Law School and New York University Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development on how to promote diversity and equity in education.
"Sarah is already a successful leader in the realm of diversity and inclusion," said Lawrence J. Buckfire, President and Lead Trail Attorney at Buckfire Law. "A legal education will only magnify her impact. We are so pleased to be able to help Sarah accomplish her goals with this scholarship."
Every year, the Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. Law School Diversity Scholarship awards one deserving law student $2,000 to be used toward his or her continued education in law school. The scholarship is available to all students in the United States who dedicate themselves to promoting diversity in their communities.
Since 1969, Buckfire Law Firm has represented victims of injuries and medical malpractice. The firm offers multiple scholarships each year for students who demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence. For more information about the Buckfire scholarships, see our scholarships page.
