Evelyn Cortes is an Auditor Technical Specialist with the U.S. Dept. of Defense, Office of the Inspector General. Ms. Cortes received a B.A., summa cum laude, in Accounting from Interamerican University of Puerto Rico and is Grant Management Certified. Ms. Cortes is a CPA; she specializes in fraud and waste detection and prevention, maintaining government auditing standards, and quality control reviews including knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and the Office of Grant and Budget Uniform Guidance. Prior to her position as an Auditor Technical Specialist, Ms. Cortes held the position of Supervisory Auditor with Defense Contract Audit Agency, and Auditor of the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico. She is the recipient of several Defense Audit Contract Agency Performance Awards and was the Department of Defense Office of the Inspector General Policy and Oversight Auditor of the Year in 2017.
