A Smorgasbord of Scandinavian Music Arrives in Parker This May

Parker's PACE Center will host the Parker Symphony's season finale concert featuring a variety of classical music written by Scandinavian composers.

Parker, CO, May 03, 2018 --(PR.com)-- This month, the PACE Center will host the Parker Symphony's season finale concert featuring a variety of classical music written by composers from Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. The concert will be held on Friday May 11 at 7:30 PM.

The program includes Sibelius' Karelia Suite, a musical tribute to the Karelia region in Finland as well as the Alfven's Midsommarvaka, commonly known as the Swedish Rhapsody. The highlight of the evening will be a performance of Norwegian composer Grieg's piano concerto by University of Denver professor Heidi Leathwood.

The concert is just in time for Mother's Day weekend as well as the Norwegian holiday of syttende mai, that celebrates the day the Norwegian constitution was signed (May 17).

Established in 1994, the mission of the Parker Symphony Orchestra is to perform orchestral music that will educate, entertain, and inspire the people of Parker, Colorado and the surrounding communities. Under the direction of René Knetsch, the PSO is seventy five members strong, dedicated to continual excellence and growth. They perform with the goal of offering interesting and entertaining performances to tempt everyone’s musical palate.
