5K Run/Walk for a Better Us to Support The Gateway Family YMCA
Generosity Series Fundraiser to Support YMCA Financial Assistance
Clark, NJ, May 08, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Gateway Family YMCA is inviting the community to join in support at their Fundraiser 5K Run/Walk for a better us, hosted by Generosity Series on Sunday, June 10, in Oak Ridge Park – 136 Oak Ridge Rd., Clark, NJ. “We are excited to be participating in our third Generosity Series Walk/Run. Registration for the 2018 Generosity New Jersey 5K run walk is open, and we’re inviting you to join us for the most heart-warming morning in June,” stated Krystal R. Canady, CEO, The Gateway Family YMCA. “Members of our local community can help support their neighbors by participating or supporting the event, which is a fundraiser for the YMCA 2018 Annual Support Campaign.”
The 5K event is part of the Generosity Series and will include other local non-profit organizations as well as The Gateway Family YMCA. Registration is $20 per person and each participant commits to raising a minimum of $200 for the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, which directly benefits Financial Assistance support of participants throughout the local community.
“This is a great opportunity to get your friends and family together to support a cause you care about, walking or running, cheering as a spectator or volunteering to help the local community organizations,” stated Melynda A. Mileski, EVP/COO. “We support our participants in their fundraising efforts by providing tools and a web page where they can tell their personal Y story and collect donations to support a cause they believe in, our community.”
Dedicated to building a healthy community, The Gateway Family YMCA provides free Diabetes screening programs, a Diabetes Prevention Program and LIVESTRONG at the YMCA, a free program for cancer survivors. In 2017, charitable gifts from YMCA donors helped to make it possible for 1,300 children to have a safe place to learn and build confidence after school; 1,000 children to experience lasting memories and friendship in summer camp, 2,600 to learn safety and confidence in swim lessons, for 23,600 members to reconnect and grow together as a family, for over 700 people in need to gain a support system and a place to live; and countless others to access education and training to reach their full potential. The Gateway Family YMCA provided over $635,000 in financial assistance for programs, services and membership in 2017.
