The Knowledge Group Has Scheduled a Live Webcast on Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: Enforcement, Regulatory & Compliance Issues in the 2018 Landscape
New York, NY, May 11, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Knowledge Group/The Knowledge Congress Live Webcast Series, the leading producer of regulatory focused webcasts, announced today that it has scheduled a live webcast entitled: Foreign Corrupt Practices Act: Enforcement, Regulatory & Compliance Issues in the 2018 Landscape. This two-hour event is scheduled on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm (ET).
Event Synopsis:
The year 2017 marked the 40th year of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act’s (FCPA’s) enforcement and the 20th year of its internationalization through the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Convention. In the same year, three significant enforcement actions were noted, including the enforcement action against Telia Company which involved one of the largest FCPA penalties. Additionally, the Supreme Court's decision in Kokesh v. SEC has the potential to affect investigations and enforcement efforts and practices by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The Department of Justice (DOJ) also announced last November 29, 2017 its new FCPA Corporate Enforcement Policy, which primarily aims to increase voluntary disclosure of FCPA violations.
Although last year's enforcement activity was much lower than 2016, the DOJ’s and SEC's heightened enforcement efforts are likely to continue this year and beyond. Therefore, it is still critical for companies to monitor their foreign transactions and address any suspicious corporate behavior accordingly.
This course offers an overview of the significant trends and developments in FCPA enforcement. A panel of distinguished professionals and thought leaders will provide best compliance practices in light of these developments.
