CareerVillage.org Joins NewSchools Future of Work Challenge
Funding and management assistance from NewSchools Venture Fund will fuel efforts to create exceptional tools to help students connect to the future of work.
Palo Alto, CA, May 18, 2018 --(PR.com)-- CareerVillage.org is proud to announce its selection as a member of the 2018 Ignite cohort at NewSchools Venture Fund.
CareerVillage.org is one of 11 ed tech companies awarded funding through the NewSchools Ignite Future of Work Challenge. Each cohort member is committed to create or expand an innovative ed tech product to help millions of students across the country to support middle and high school students’ development of skills and knowledge that will help them succeed in the jobs of tomorrow. In addition to the funding, NewSchools will provide management assistance and create a community of practice for the cohort members.
CareerVillage.org uses crowdsourcing to provide personal career guidance to students at massive scale. It does this through an open access platform that anyone can use to ask a question related to any career. The CareerVillage.org web platform matches the career questions to one of its volunteer corps of 18,000+ working professionals with relevant expertise and a wealth of experiences to share. The advice students get is tailored for them, reliable, encouraging and inspirational. Already over 2.5M students have used CareerVillage to find career advice.
CareerVillage.org founder Jared Chung said, “Schools need better tools and resources to use for boosting their student’s career readiness. The vast majority of youth who use CareerVillage.org found us on their own while they were searching the internet for basic career information. But I’ve always believed that we have a huge role to play in schools and other education settings. That’s why we’re incredibly excited to be joining NewSchools and the rest of the cohort companies in the Future of Work challenge. I hope that our work with NewSchools can help us learn how to best reach and serve students in classrooms where we can have the most impact.”
“We believe ed tech tools have the potential to address critical needs to increase students’ opportunities in the future economy,” said Tonika Cheek Clayton, Managing Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund. “That’s why NewSchools Ignite is proud to invest in CareerVillage.org to develop engaging tools to connect students to the future of work.”
