Aliso Viejo, CA, May 23, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The singer, songwriter and pianist, known as Chantal has released her debut album, “Scars.” The album contains 13 tracks for an approximate total listening time of one hour. It has been proudly published as an independent release without the involvement or financial support of the corporate music industry.
Asked to cite some main artistic influences, Chantal writes, “I studied classical music, but I love listening to everything from opera to symphonic metal. It just depends on my mood. I loved the '80s bands but have probably been most influenced by Tori Amos, Evanescence, Within Temptation and Kate Bush.”
Commenting on the general themes of her record, Chantal writes, “Every song comes from a deeply personal place, and the creation of the album is about the scars we all have and share in one form or another. Although most of the songs on this album go from a current circumstance or event, to reveal a more timeless truth about being human, I would also add that some of the songs are calls to action; some are just reactions themselves – some just slam the door.”
The title song of Chantal’s “Scars” was written just after the city of Knysna, South Africa, experienced catastrophic fires in 2017. The media covered the fires until the story no longer generated attention, but the victims of the incident remained. Chantal's concern for those affected inspired the title track.
“The song, itself,” she writes, “speaks to the scars we all carry. Some are shared, others are highly personal, but we all put on a smile and carry on because life goes on. I think this song was a way of reminding myself that I don’t always know what others have been through. And even if all I see is a scar, that doesn’t mean the pain is gone. It doesn’t take the experience away.”
In this way, Chantal's record is a message of encouragement, compassion and humanity.
“We can never underrate kindness,” she says. “I was very moved by the kindness of people from so many different spheres who stepped in after the fire to assist in the crisis. Scars tell us that something has happened here, and not all scars are visible. Kindness places wisdom over ego; it reminds us to be human.”
Chantal has been singing in choirs since a very young age. Her piano playing began at age 10. A veteran musician today, she has been creating original music since 1997. She has performed and recorded with several bands, but “Scars” represents the launch of her solo career. She has said that her songs “are essentially a personal diary of feelings, emotions, reflections and questions.”
“Scars,” the official debut album of Chantal, is now available from over 600 quality digital music stores online worldwide.
