SMC to Build a 1 Million Square-Foot New Facility at Its North American Headquarters
SMC Corporation of America plans to break ground in the summer of 2018 on a new 1.0 million square-foot warehouse on its corporate campus to boost total facility space to 2.6 million square feet at its North American headquarters in Noblesville, Indiana.
Noblesville, IN, May 23, 2018 --(PR.com)-- This latest round of capital investment is estimated at $67.8 million and will increase current warehouse space by 30%, increase production capacity and is projected to add 92 new jobs to Noblesville in the next five years.
The new warehouse will be located adjacent to the existing 1.6 million square-foot corporate headquarters which will then be dedicated to a shared manufacturing, engineering and corporate office space currently employing over 1,000 people.
The corporate campus will serve as the primary North American engineering, manufacturing and distribution center for SMC’s vast offerings of industrial automation components such as: pneumatic valves, actuators, filters, fittings and tubing as well as electrical pressure/flow sensors, actuators and thermal control products.
This construction marks SMC’s fourth capital investment project in ten years at its Noblesville corporate campus. In 2016, it built a corporate residence hall for new-hire salespeople recruited for the SMC Sales Academy, a six-month technical sales curriculum on SMC automation products focusing on industrial applications with the objective of doubling national sales in the next five years. In October 2012, it constructed a 600,000 square-foot facility expansion; and its first was in the spring of 2009 when it moved its U.S. corporate headquarters from Indianapolis to Noblesville.
