Shapiro Bieging Barber Otteson announced that Kevin T. Schutte has joined the law firm's Dallas office as a partner. Schutte’s practice focuses on general commercial and business litigation and he has particular experience representing banks and other financial institutions in a variety of matters.

Schutte was previously a partner in the Dallas office of Bracewell LLP.
Schutte’s practice focuses on general commercial and business litigation at both the trial and appellate court levels, as well as arbitrations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
In his general commercial litigation practice, Schutte represents clients in disputes involving breach of contract, fraud, securities fraud, misappropriation of trade secrets, unfair competition, real estate, healthcare, trademark and copyright infringements, oil and gas/mineral rights and product liability.
While Schutte represents clients in a variety of industries, he has particular experience representing banks and other financial institutions with matters concerning mortgage banking, mortgage-backed securities (MBS) litigation, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), Texas and Federal debt collection practices, Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), data breach/privacy litigation, derivative shareholder disputes, and corporate fiduciary duties.
Earlier in his career Schutte served as the interim deputy general counsel – litigation, for a publicly traded financial institution, focusing primarily on mortgage banking.
Schutte received a B.A., Finance, magna cum laude, from Ouachita Baptist University and he is a 2001 graduate of the Baylor University School of Law.
