Storage Made Easy Announces Open Source GDPR Rules Repository at OpenStack Vancouver
At the OpenStack Vancouver Summit Storage Made Easy announced that they had released an open source rules repository of compliance expressions for Personal Information.
London, United Kingdom, May 24, 2018 --(PR.com)-- At the OpenStack Summit in Vancouver Storage Made Easy® (SME) announced that it had released to the community an open source compliance rules repository that can be used for GDPR and other compliance regimes.
The open source rules repository uses regular expressions to detect and classify content and is able to be used in other projects aside from the SME File Fabric. The repository plugs into Storage Made Easy’s PII, personal information, discovery and classification module and helps companies instantly discover where personal information is being used across on-premises and on-cloud data stores.

At the OpenStack Vancouver Summit Jim Liddle CEO, and Doug Soltesz, Product Solutions Director, presented how Object Storage and OpenStack could be used to host compliant corporate data solutions and how the Storage Made Easy File Fabric can function as a compliance and classification hub for unstructured data.
The Storage Made Easy Enterprise File Fabric™ provides single pane of glass management that presents data from multiple sources, be that on-premises, a data centre, or the Cloud, in a unified view. It provides a multi-cloud data fabric that gives companies intelligent policy based brokering across dispersed corporate data. It is able to federate identity, file encryption and key management whilst making this transparent to end users.
Jim Liddle CEO said, “We already have buy-in to the rules repository from existing customers in the various geographies that we serve, who see it as a key way of being able to secure, find and classify personal data, to enable compliance with increasingly sophisticated compliance regimes. These rulesets will eventually span languages and geographies and will provide a uniquely useful resource for not only corporate customers, but also service providers and educational establishments.”
About Storage Made Easy (SME)
Storage Made Easy provides a multi-cloud data management and data protection product called the Enterprise File Fabric™ that unifies on-premises and on-cloud company storage assets in addition to standalone products that bridge desktop and cloud, such as operating system native cloud drives and cloud explorer applications.
The File Fabric provides cloud-like economics across a company's storage portfolio, unlocking the benefits and cost-efficiency of its data assets whilst providing strict controls and governance for legislative compliance and security concerns such as ransomware attacks. Existing site-based storage infrastructures can be transformed into an on-premises private cloud, delivering a storage-as-a-service model to the company. Local storage can be connected to public clouds, expertly managed by the File Fabric as a unified hybrid cloud storage platform.
The File Fabric solution offers a “blanket” that companies can privately apply to wrap around all their data: on-premises, within a public cloud, or on a third party software vendors’ cloud (SharePoint or SalesForce for example). Customers can use the File Fabric for security, encryption and control with a focus on compliance regimes such as GDPR, HIPAA, FERPA and GBLA.
Customers include one of the world’s largest social media companies, and also one of the largest global retailers, in addition to global internet service providers, universities and international government and governmental bodies.
The company is backed by one of the largest alternative asset managers in addition to entrepreneurs in the London market insurance industry, who have previously successfully sold their company to a listed peer.
Storage Made Easy is the trading name of Vehera LTD.
