The Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation Announces 5th Annual Ryan’s Run 5K

Middletown, NJ, March 08, 2008 --(PR.com)-- On Saturday June 21, 2008 the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation- (www.RAKMF.org) along with the Jersey Shore Running Club, will hold its fifth annual 5k run/walk at the Mountain Hill School in Middletown, New Jersey. The event will be a 3.1-mile run/walk meandering through Middletown’s scenic horse country, and Huber Woods Park. Due to overwhelming community demand the RAKMF has added a 1 mile run to the event. Kids Race will follow. The event will start at 9:00 a.m. with food, drink, music, and awards to follow. Proceeds from the charity run benefit the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation.

This year marks the fifth running of Ryan’s Run. The RAKMF’s goal is to have five hundred 5k runners cross the finish line. Planning for the run has already begun and the race committee is enthusiastic about this year’s race. “What I know from my many years of running and racing is we have a very special event. No one is left out of the fun. People can run, walk, race, or just watch and cheer. They will have an experience that very few other 5k race events can offer,” says Mario Gagliano, Ryan’s Run Co-Race Director.

The Ryan’s Run Race Committee is also hosting a Pre-Race Expo and Barbeque Friday, June 20, 2008 from 6 -8 pm on the Mountain Hill School campus. The event is free and open to both pre-registered runners and newcomers. This is a great opportunity for runners to view the 5k course, meet the Race Committee, pick up race bibs and race t-shirts and meet some of the 2008 Expo Sponsors.

Last years sponsors include The Mountain Hill School, Whole Foods, Bank of America, The New York Stock Exchange, The Provident Bank Foundation, Glaceau SmartWater & VitaminWater, Verizon, GameTime, A. Tierney, Matzel & Mumford, Outback Steakhouse, Alpert and Zales Pediatric Cardiology, The Monmouth Journal, and Millennium Radio Group.

In the last four years the RAKMF has given back to the community. Monies raised from Ryan’s Run have made the following impact in the community:

- The Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation is building playgrounds for kids. The RAKMF has completed three projects to date contributing over $40,000.00 to their new playground initiative.

- The Foundation expects the next Playground project to be at the Ronald McDonald House at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia Pa.

- The RAKMF has provided $30,000.00 to the Congenital Heart Surgeons Society, a group of over 75 pediatric heart surgeons from hospitals around the country. The RAKMF grant is for a research fellowship.

- The RAKMF made a lead donation of $10,000.00 to the Ronald McDonald House in Long Branch NJ to build a child’s playroom. The home cares for up to eight families at a time who have children undergoing life saving medical procedures in local hospitals.

- The Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation has made over $25,000.00 in donations to help families with their stay with Deborah Heart and Lung Center. These contributions have provided over 1,000 nights of free lodging to families that wish to stay at Deborah with their child.

“Perhaps most important to us is our direct financial support to families that need money to pay for things like, cell phone service while in the hospital with their children, medications, wheelchairs and special medical treatments not covered by medical insurance. Most recently we had a request from a family in Montana that needed lodging in NYC while their 3 ½ year old child received treatment for a brain anomaly,”said Andy Kaiser, Founder of the Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation and Ryan’s Dad. He added, “Your contributions to our foundation will pay for this family’s stay! We hope to see you at Ryan’s Run 2008.”

About the RAKMF, the RAKMF is a 501-c3 charitable organization established in 2003 after the sudden and unexpected death of Ryan Kaiser. Ryan, the 6-year-old son of Andy and Lauren Kaiser was born with Congenital Heart Disease; Ryan had three open heart surgeries before he was 2 years old. The Ryan Andrew Kaiser Memorial Foundation has three philanthropic goals. The first is to financially assist local families of critically ill children, who may not otherwise be able to afford proper healthcare. The second is to raise and donate funds to hospitals and Doctor Groups that specialize in the cure and care of pediatric heart patients. The last goal of the RAKMF is help build children’s parks and playgrounds, dedicated in Ryan’s name to provide children and their families with a safe and fun place to play.
