New Book by Bob West Serves as Inspiring Story to Overcome Chronic Health Conditions
Dog Ear Publishing reviews a new book that tells one man’s story of overcoming a decades-long struggle with several chronic illnesses, including rheumatoid arthritis. His story and that of others offers inspiration to those facing similar struggles.
Orem, UT, May 30, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Author Bob West, who has struggled with but beaten chronic illnesses over 30 years, has written his story with the hope of inspiring others to overcome the impossible. West writes: “I was even cured of rheumatoid arthritis, which is considered an incurable disease. Too often we accept the term incurable, not just for physical illness, but also for the other difficulties found in our lives.”
West shares his story and that of others who have persevered in “Break Your Cane; Transforming Life’s Worst Challenges to Overcome Adversity.” He shares how adversity early in life was a great teacher, helping him learn skills he needed to find a cure for illness later in life, and eventually finding success and happiness.
West is bluntly honest about his struggles with his many chronic illnesses, including rheumatoid arthritis, which the medical establishment has called incurable. During treatment for various conditions, West was seen by doctors in seven different states and even one country outside the United States. The conditions included osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac sprue, bruxism, fibromatosis, gout and disseminated candidiasis. Symptoms ranged from dreadful digestion to a weak immune system, feeling cold, severe joint damage, breaking out in rashes and having low energy.
West learned the importance of persistence as he battled with illness for 30 years. At his lowest point, the arthritis was so bad he couldn’t even put on a shirt by himself, couldn’t drive himself to work and needed a cane. West wanted to give up. He persisted and eventually was cured. West learned that: “An unwillingness to quit in the face of severe adversity, far more than talent or intelligence, separates those who prevail from those who are crushed by formidable adversity.” He also encourages us to persist in the difficulties we face. He writes: “What legacy of endurance will you leave? How many will be inspired by your tenacity. Never give up! Never quit!”
West particularly wants to see an improvement in the health of our society. West writes: “I want patients to be far less accepting of an answer that the disease is incurable, and that the only remedy is a lifetime of harmful, expensive medications and medical treatments.”
“Break Your Cane” is thus nothing less than a call to start a revolution. He urges everyone to choose the best way, even if the path is harder or unconventional. He further explains that “A cure for rheumatoid arthritis goes against the teachings of mainstream medical science, so an unconventional remedy was necessary for me to be cured from it.”
West, the chemical engineer turned patent attorney, hopes that sharing his story will inspire others to personal excellence. He lives in Utah.
