Orange County Preparatory Academy Announces New Principal
Orlando, FL, May 31, 2018 --(PR.com)-- After a six month search, the Orange County Preparatory Academy (OCPA) Governing Board and Charter School Associates are pleased to introduce Jeff Higgins as the new Principal.
Jeff comes to OCPA from nearby Arbor Ridge K-8 School in Orlando where he served as Assistant Principal. Taking the helm at OCPA, Jeff replaces Mrs. Melonee Ferguson who has served since January as the school’s Interim Principal, having been promoted from the Assistant Principal position at OCPA.
Mike Strader, President of Charter School Associates (the Education Service Provider for OCPA), commented, “We could not be more excited to bring Jeff Higgins on board. Jeff’s passion for educating all children and his knowledge of our community makes him an excellent choice to lead OCPA.” Passion and energy are fitting words to describe Mr. Higgins, who has not only been an administrator at Arbor Ridge, but has also served in similar roles at Union Park Elementary and Freedom High School – both in Orange County. Jeff even spent a 3 year stint playing professional football in the Arena Football League with the Albany Conquest.
Jeff Higgins is arriving at Orange County Prep at a pivotal time. The school just opened a new building on campus a year ago to allow for future expansion and recently announced plans to expand its gifted academic offerings. OCPA places a high value on meeting the needs of all learners and recently recognized an opportunity to increase the access and offerings within the Gifted Program. With a new Voluntary Pre-K Program starting next year and a dynamic leader like Mr. Higgins coming on board, OCPA is poised to really excel.
Orange County Prep will announce a Meet and Greet to provide the community an opportunity to welcome their new principal in the coming days.
