Santa Fe Christian Athlete to Play at University of Oregon
Solana Beach, CA, June 23, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Camryn Tastad, Santa Fe Christian Schools (SFC) senior and 2017 Under Armour First-Team All-American, has signed a collegiate contract to play volleyball at the University of Oregon.
Tastad has had a tremendous career at SFC, being named “Libero of the Year” and Breitbard All-CIF Southern California First-Team for two consecutive years, First-Team All-Coastal League, All-Academic Team and CSF Recipient. She also lead SFC volleyball’s team to success as CIF Open Division State Finalists, CIF Open Division Championship winners and CIF Division 1 Championship winners.
Tastad’s 1079 career digs placed her #2 in the CIF record book. She has a #3 and #5 spot in the top 10 all-time list for digs in a match (39 and 33 respectively).
Moreover, Tastad was one of 24 high school volleyball players selected (as best in the nation) to be on the Under Armour All-American First Team, and was the only Libero selection in the western region. She also was awarded the Gatorade Heart and Hustle award for her tenacious defense throughout the Under Armour All-American match on December 15th in Kansas City.
Tastad is a strong leader at SFC and recounts, “The Leadership Academy at SFC is a unique aspect to SFC sports and has been a huge part of my success as a leader. Coach Bickley has inspired me to really buy into my leadership role as an individual.”
Reflecting on Tastad’s time at SFC, Coach Bickley said, “Camryn is one of the toughest competitors this school has ever seen. This year was extra special for me to watch her not only be an important part of the team, but develop into a strong leader that led this team to a Division 1 CIF Championship.”
Her arrival at the University of Oregon is heavily anticipated. University of Oregon Volleyball Coach Matt Ulmer stated that, “Cam will be a fan favorite from day one. She is the best floor defender in the country and constantly makes plays that make you question, 'how did she do that?' Cam is relentless, the ultimate go-getter, and will not be denied. She runs the show on defense and is a true floor general. Cam has attitude, swagger, and confidence for days and I can't wait to work with her.”
