Perimeter Medical Imaging Inc Appoints Charles S. Carignan, MD as New CEO
Toronto, Canada, June 26, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Perimeter Medical Imaging Inc., a developer of real time imaging systems for in-surgery tissue assessment, is pleased to announce the appointment of Charles S. Carignan, MD as CEO.
Dr. Carignan has more than 20 years of experience in key leadership positions spanning the medical imaging, women’s health, surgery and rehabilitation sectors. He brings a proven track record of successfully commercializing a number of breakthrough technologies that dramatically improved healthcare for patients. Most recently he has served as CEO of REX Bionics, a developer of robotic rehabilitation systems designed for people with mobility impairments.
As CEO of BionX Medical Technologies he led the commercialization and redesign of the world’s only active prosthetic foot and ankle solution available in the market – the Empower Ankle. BionX was acquired by Ottobock in 2017. Prior to this he built the team that developed the NvisionVLE™ Imaging System, an Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) imaging system for gastrointestinal applications developed by NinePoint Medical, where he was founder and CEO. Other notable positions include Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Novasys Medical, Inc., Chief Medical Officer at Boston Scientific, and Vice President of Clinical Research and Medical Affairs at Conceptus. He is also a Director of Aegea Medical, the developer of the Aegea Vapor System for endometrial ablation.
Dr. Carignan earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University, received his M.D. degree from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University and trained in general surgery at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center.
