Introducing Non-Fiction book Treasures of a Bronx Warrior; Photographs and Memories of a Devout New Yorker, Movie Star Hopeful and Loving Mother by L.D. Sargent.
Treasures of a Bronx Warrior, Photographs and Memories of a Devout New Yorker, Movie Star Hopeful and Loving Mother is a photo book memoir and tribute from a daughter L.D. Sargent to her mother, South Bronx, NY native Doris Banbury (1930-2015). The book features conversations between Doris and L.D., both who fancied becoming actresses, about photographs Doris took in New York the 1950s of legendary movie stars. For years, L.D. begged Doris to share the stories of how she got the legends to pose and she wanted Doris to turn her photos, or “treasures” as Doris called them, into a picture book, but Doris vehemently refused. The book includes candid photographs of such legends as Lena Horne, Elizabeth Taylor, Marilyn Monroe and Sammy Davis Jr. The book also includes documents and photographs of Doris’s family history.
Treasures of a Bronx Warrior, Photographs and Memories of a Devout New Yorker, Movie Star Hopeful and Loving Mother is a three-book collection that features the photographs from the Doris Banbury Private Photo Collection, © 2004.
