Santa Fe Christian Schools Student Recognized by Notable Spoken Word Performer at Local Poet's Reading

Solana Beach, CA, July 05, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Alexis Ng, an eighth-grade student at Santa Fe Christian Schools (SFC), has been acknowledged for her poetic works by prominent poet, Viet Mai, after her performance at the San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) in Balboa Park. Ng had been invited to read her poem at the SDAI as part of the Poetry and Art 2018 Series, an interactive arts and culture experience, which includes visual art, music, written and spoken word.

San Diego native Viet Mai is an educator, artist and consultant who works to enhance the lives of others through community engagement and youth empowerment. Mai was in attendance at the SDAI event and, impressed by Ng’s young talent, he invited her to join the San Diego Teen Poetry Team.

Following the SDAI event, Ng recited a few of her poems at the opening night of the California Association of Teachers of English (CATE) 2018 Statewide Convention in San Diego. She was also invited to do a reading at a San Diego State University English class.

Ng credits her success to her English and Creative Writing teachers at SFC, who have fostered and cultivated her passion for writing.

Ng is a multi-talented 14-year-old, as she also plays cello, piano, and is on SFC’s debate team. However, her true passion in life is poetry. To date, her work has been published in a poetry compilation and in the LA Times.
