Live theater and music, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, a silent auction, and more beginning at 3:00 pm at Nighttown.
Cleveland, OH, July 13, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Playwrights Local announces its Summer Rally on Sunday, August 12. The company’s first-ever friendraiser features live theater and music, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar, a silent auction, and more. The Summer Rally runs from at 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Nighttown (12387 Cedar Road, Cleveland, OH 44106). Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Advance purchases can be made at www.playwrightslocal.org/summer-rally/. The company invites friends, relatives, theater-goers, and arts lovers to “Stand Up for Local Playwrights!” at this informal, family-friendly event.
Featured performances in the Summer Rally include a preview of Down By Contact, a new play by Les Hunter that will premiere in a co-production with Dobama Theatre opening August 17 (http://www.playwrightslocal.org/down-by-contact/). Cast members John Busser and Corin B. Self will enact a scene under the direction of Dale Heinen. Live music will be contributed by Trepanning Trio and testimonials about the company’s work will be delivered by playwrights Faye Sholiton and Luke Brett. Emcee duties will be provided by Jared Bendis, a Playwrights Local board member who The Plain Dealer claims “might be the most interesting man in Cleveland.”
“The Summer Rally will be presented at the end of our third season,” says David Todd, Artistic Director of Playwrights Local. “We’ve connected with so many playwrights, artists, patrons, and funders over this time, but to a lot of people we’re still the new theater on the block. We wanted to host an informal gathering so that people can get to know us better. We’re thankful to Brendan Ring and Nighttown for giving us a space to tell people about our fourth season and new programs such as our Young Playwrights Collective.”
