Zonta Douglas County Awards Community Grants
Zonta Douglas County will hold an informational meeting about its fundraising trip on Thursday, July 19.
Castle Rock, CO, July 18, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Zonta Douglas County recently awarded grants to two community groups that serve women and children, $1,000 to Zonta International, and two $2,000 scholarships that will be matched by Arapahoe Community College. The scholarship recipients will be announced in several weeks.
The two community groups that received Zonta grants were:
- The Douglas County Libraries’ GED program (https://www.dcl.org/adult-education/)--$450 that will cover fees for three GED applicants; and
- First United Methodist Church of Castle Rock (www.fumccr.org) $750 for a one day a week after school program that takes care of 60+ children in the Castle Rock area.
Zonta’s scholarship and grant program is funded through its annual Trivia Night fundraiser as well as other fundraisers throughout the year.
“Our major fundraiser for the coming year is going to be a fabulous 10-day trip to Canada that will inspire and inform you, and help us raise money to fulfill our mission of community service and global projects,” explains Julie Browning, 2018-19 Zonta Club President. “An informational meeting about this unique travel opportunity presented by Go Ahead Tours will be held Thursday, July 19, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Lone Tree Library, 10555 Library Way, Lone Tree, CO 80124.
The preliminary itinerary for the Oct. 4-14, 2019 trip includes three nights in Toronto, two nights in Ottawa, three nights in Quebec City, and two nights in Montreal at handpicked hotels, many meals, travel via private deluxe motor coach, and a wide variety of tours and sightseeing opportunities. Cost for the trip will be approximately $4,000 per person including airfare, and payment plans are available.
“We have space for only 35 people on the trip on a first-come basis,” Browning stressed. “If you’re interested, please RSVP for the July 19 informational meeting to Marilyn Harding at mkharding19@msn.com.”
