Operation Food Search Joins Forces to End Childhood Hunger
St. Louis non-profit agency worked with Edgewell, Farmhaus and Feed the Children.
St. Louis, MO, July 22, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Operation Food Search (OFS), a non-profit hunger relief organization, recently worked with Edgewell Personal Care, Farmhaus, and world anti-hunger organization Feed the Children to fight childhood hunger in the St. Louis community. Food and essentials were provided to 400 families who were pre-identified based on need by Operation Food Search.
The families recently gathered at Lutheran High School North and received a 25-pound box of food that included canned vegetables, peanut butter and mac ‘n cheese; a 15-pound box of essentials including personal care items such as shampoo, razors and toothpaste; and a box of Avon products. More than 2,400 boxes of food were loaded into cars by Lutheran High School North football players.
Farmhaus, a St. Louis restaurant and co-sponsor of this community distribution, helped provide funds for the food and essentials by hosting a benefit dinner earlier this year through Feed the Children’s Celebrity Chef Series.
This was one of many events Feed the Children planned across the country to help defeat hunger. In St. Louis alone, more than 9 percent of families live below the poverty line.
Founded in 1981, Operation Food Search (OFS) is a hunger relief organization that provides food and nutrition education. With a strategic focus aimed at ending childhood hunger, OFS empowers families with a range of programs and services proven to reduce food insecurity and increase access to healthy and affordable food. The agency helps feed more than 200,000 individuals on a monthly basis – one-third of which are children – through a network of 330 community partners in 31 Missouri and Illinois counties.
Operation Food Search is located at 1644 Lotsie Blvd. For more information, call (314) 726-5355.
