Walter Finnigan - John Maxwell Certified Team Member of LEAF Advising and The HERO Builder Celebrate Clover Garden School as Inaugural Character Campus in NC
The HERO Builder equips teachers to give students a character foundation they can build their lives upon.
Burlington, NC, July 23, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Clover Garden School will become the first school in the state of North Carolina to open the 2018-2019 year with the school-wide initiative designed to give students a foundation of character they can build their lives upon.
Students at the school will spend 5-minutes each day learning how to apply one of the 36 HERO habits to improve their relationships with others and develop personal responsibility. They are given tools to apply what they learn immediately.
Boyd Hamlin, creator of the program said, "The HERO Builder provides the resources teachers need to create the positive culture they desire for their students to become difference-makers in their schools, communities and homes."
To start the program, Clover Garden School Assistant Principal Emily Moore took the following steps:
- After reviewing the resources provided in the HERO Builder, Moore and her faculty decide it allowed them the freedom they wanted to be creative and to put their unique personality into implementing the program.
- Moore themed this year's teacher orientation meeting around The HERO Builder, including providing all 65 staff members a hero cape and mask during a session where she installed them as "HERO Builders" for the school.
- During their meeting, teachers decorated the school with the HERO theme as well as including bulletin boards in the classrooms that display all 36 habits taught throughout the program.
Assistant Principal, Emily Moore, said: "Teachers have jumped on board because they are excited to see how the program changes the mindset of students."
2018 Teacher of the Year at Clover Garden School, Jeff Bostic, said: "This program makes it simple for me to incorporate character development into every day, every hour, and every class that I am teaching this year! The HERO Builder is going to give my students an exciting opportunity to build their character."
