MITA Congratulates Lisa Spellman, General-Secretary for DICOM, on Her Appointment to the USNC IEC Finance Committee
Washington, DC, August 15, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA) – the leading organization and collective voice of medical imaging equipment manufacturers, innovators and developers – today congratulated Lisa Spellman on her appointment to serve on the Finance Committee of the United States National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (USNC/IEC).
In this competitive appointment, Spellman will oversee and provide input on the budget of the USNC/IEC, which brings issues from the global electrotechnical industry into the U.S. for review, consideration, and thoughtful response. Furthermore, the USNC/IEC advocates for U.S. interests in regional and international standards-creation, conformity assessment, and other related matters.
“I look forward to working with the broader electrotechnical standards community to expand healthcare imaging and messaging standards around the world,” said Spellman who continued that in her new capacity she will work on “improving standards to improve patient care and reducing regulatory barriers that hamper innovation.”
“MITA has always been committed to developing standards that can improve patient safety, raise the quality of care while lowering costs to patients, facilitate interoperability, boost efficiency and assist with the timely entry of products into the marketplace,” said Patrick Hope, executive director of MITA. “Lisa has extensive experience generating international standards, and I’m certain that she will excel in this role.”
Spellman also serves as the General-Secretary for Digital Communications in Medicine (DICOM), providing strategic leadership and management of operational affairs for DICOM stakeholders around the world. Spellman’s appointment to the USNC/IEC Finance Committee further elevates MITA’s position as a crucial player in the international standards-setting and advocacy communities for electro-technologies, including medical imaging technologies.
