Telgian Announces Introduction to Emergency Communication Systems NFPA 72 Webinar

Phoenix, AZ, August 25, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Fire Smarts, in partnership with Telgian, is providing a series of informative training webinars taught by Telgian fire protection experts who will educate on specific areas of fire protection systems. The September webinar is slated for Thursday, September 13, 2018, 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm Eastern and will introduce participants to NFPA 72 Chapter 24, which covers the design, installation and maintenance of Emergency Communication Systems. Emergency communication systems are commonly found in elevators, stairways, schools, large assembly buildings and high-rise structures to communicate unified information to the building occupants in the event of an emergency.

Participants will become familiar with the scope of this chapter and the commonly used mass notification systems covered including one-way and two-way voice-based systems as well as elevator phones. The presentation will also review the design and installation requirements for these systems and discuss changes in the latest edition of NFPA 72 directly impacting the use of emergency communication systems.

About the Presenter
Tom Parrish has more than 25 years’ experience in fire protection and emergency response. He has held positions with municipal fire, law enforcement and emergency medical services and in private industry system design and installation programs. He serves on several NFPA technical committees including NFPA 72 Signaling Systems for the Protection of Life and Property and Emergency Communications Systems. Parrish is a board member of AFAA and is a senior instructor for NFPA. His professional credentials include Level IV NICET Certified Fire Alarm Technician, Level III NICET Inspections and Testing, Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Master Electrician. In addition, he is board certified as a Physical Security Professional by ASIS and holds a bachelor’s in Industrial Technology from the Kean University of New Jersey.
