Sarasota, Florida's First Dedicated Cannabis Clinic Now Open
Cannabis Theory’s offers both recommendations and education to patients.
Sarasota, FL, September 05, 2018 --(PR.com)-- As soon as you step through the door into the Cannabis Theory’s office on Fruitville Road, you know something is different. Cannabis Theory’s is Sarasota’s first dedicated cannabis clinic. For a flat annual fee of $250, qualified patients receive their medical marijuana recommendation alongside the information and support necessary to achieve the greatest benefit from the medication.
When Amendment 2 went into effect on June 24, 2017, Sarasota County and the surrounding areas saw a sharp rise in the number of doctor’s offices advertising medical marijuana recommendations in addition to their primary offerings. Additionally, corporate cannabis franchises opened "strip mall clinics." To many, the legalization of medical marijuana in Florida represents a new revenue stream.
“We don’t just write a recommendation and send a patient on their way. A prescription for medical cannabis is not something you just go pick up from the pharmacy. The patient must navigate the many different strains and delivery options offered by the dispensaries. If not properly educated about the medicine, they will not achieve the results they need,” says Brad Weinstock, Founder of Cannabis Theory’s and a two decade veteran of the cannabis industry.
Laura J. Yard, MD, the medical director of Cannabis Theory’s, is an adamant supporter of the use of medical cannabis. She comes to the industry with an extensive background in interventional pain management and hospice medicine, and is a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine and the American Board of Addiction Medicine.
“Cannabis is a powerful, under-utilized, and often misunderstood medicine. My hope is that through education and advocacy, Cannabis Theory’s can help to change that, thus having a lasting, positive impact on the lives of many Floridians,” says Dr. Yard.
About Cannabis Theory’s Cannabis Theory’s is the area’s only dedicated MMJ Clinic. Their friendly staff is committed to the health and comfort of its patients. They also believe strongly in supporting the community through sponsoring events, such as the upcoming Giving Hunger the Blues and The Sarasota’s Farmer’s Market, and offering educational outreach. Their next event is a screening of "The Scientist" September 22nd at the Florida Studio Theater.
