InBIA Board of Directors Welcomes Jennifer Bonnett, Approves New Executive Committee
The International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) hails old and new faces to the executive board committee to continue to provide ambitious, enterprising solutions for the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
Orlando, FL, October 02, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The International Business Innovation Assocation (InBIA), a global network for entrepreneurship centers, welcomed Jennifer Bonnett to the board of directors and appointed a new executive committee following the recent board member election.
The new executive committee includes incoming Chair Devon Laney, the president and CEO of Birmingham’s Innovation Depot and former first vice chair; First Vice Chair Leslie Smith, the president and CEO of Epicenter and last term’s second vice chair; Second Vice Chair Esther Vargas, the director of Emerging Ventures Ecosystem and the previous secretary; Treasurer Jeff Milanette, the president of Innovation Partners Incubation; and Secretary Ted Baker, the CEO and executive director of Innovation Connector.
Incoming Chair Devon Laney discussed his enthusiasm for the new board’s visionary approach and the future of InBIA.
“As the industry evolves, I’m proud to say that I feel our board, and, thus, our executive committee, has continued to evolve as well, and you see that represented in the executive committee for the new upcoming year. The strengths, the wealth of experience, the wealth of knowledge, and the wealth of insight that these individuals bring to the board and to the membership overall just help elevate the organization to a whole new level,” said Laney.
Incoming board member Jennifer Bonnett was the founder and Chief Chick of Startup Chicks and the general manager of Georgia Institute of Technology’s Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), a member of InBIA for over thirty years. She currently serves as the vice president of innovation and entrepreneurship for the Savannah Economic Development Authority and executive director of The Creative Coast.
Bonnett will be replacing Lou Cooperhouse, the executive director of the Rutgers University Food Innovation Center and president of the New Jersey Business Innovation Network, as board member. InBIA appreciates Cooperhouse’s dedication to the position and his active leadership within the organization since his membership began in 2002.
Laney spoke to the passion of the incoming executive slate.
“If you look at the incoming executive committee, you see a real cross-section of the industry. I think you see diversity—both in terms of individuals and in terms of geography. I think you also get a sense for the way this board, specifically the executive committee, represents the broader community, the broader ecosystem of entrepreneurial support organizations around the world, and I think that has always been a core strength of InBIA,” said Laney.
