Prolific Interactive Honored with MMA 2018 North America SMARTIES™ Gold Award for Build.com “In-Home Preview”
“In-Home Preview” Feature, an Augmented Reality Experience Built Directly Into Build.com’s iOS App, Named Gold Winner in Virtual/Augmented Reality Category.
Brooklyn, NY, October 10, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) announced the winners of their 2018 SMARTIES™ North America Award winners – honoring Prolific Interactive and Build.com with a gold award in the Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality Technology category for the execution of their “In-Home Preview” feature, an augmented reality experience built directly into Build.com’s iOS App.
Build.com is the largest online-only home improvement retailer. With no brick and mortar locations, customers wanted the ability to “touch and feel” products before making a purchase. With the launch of Apple’s ARKit for iOS11, Build.com partnered with Prolific Interactive to bridge this gap through an augmented reality experience, “In-Home Preview.” When developing the “In-Home Preview” it was vital that the experience added value to the customer by including incredibly detailed, to-scale 3D models of each product that can be interacted with in their existing environment. Customers can understand exactly how the product will function in their space – from turning on light fixtures, adjusting a faucet, switching between various finishes of the product, and viewing related products – all within the “In-Home Preview” in Build.com’s iOS App on their mobile phones.
While other home improvement retailers have dabbled in augmented reality, Prolific and Build.com partnered to use ARKit to offer the most precise and accurate modified reality interactions in eCommerce today, forging the path for meaningful and creative brand experiences using augmented reality technology.
The 2018 SMARTIES™ entries were pre-screened by a council comprised of over 100 senior-level mobile marketers prior to judging by an independent jury. The campaigns are judged on four criteria, business impact accounting for forty percent of each winner’s overall score and creative, strategy and execution each made up twenty percent.
