Marlborough Holds City-Wide Job Fair, Interview Workshops as Unemployment Dips
Marlborough EDC hosts 20+ employers at job fair, as city unemployment rate falls to 3%.
Marlborough, MA, October 14, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Marlborough Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), in conjunction with Mayor Arthur Vigeant’s office, will hold its bi-annual job fair to help connect jobseekers to local employers who are looking to fill entry-level and mid-level positions.
The Marlborough Works! Job Fair - scheduled to take place on October 23, 2018 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the Courtyard Marriott in Marlborough - will showcase local entry-level and mid-level job openings in manufacturing, trades, services, retail, hospitality, healthcare, science, finance and other industries. More than 20 employers, including Apex Entertainment, GE Healthcare Life Sciences, Quest Diagnostics, Prudential Advisors and The DAVIS Companies have already confirmed their attendance. Jobseekers will also have a chance to take part in one of three free Interview Workshops, run by MassHire Framingham Career Center, where they will learn approaches to interviewing and selling themselves to a potential employer.
The job fair announcement comes just days after the latest figures released by the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development showed Marlborough’s unemployment rate falling to 3% in August 2018. That is a 14% drop since the start of the year and a 5% decrease compared to the previous month.
“We are proud of our economic successes and our job fairs give us a great opportunity to connect local residents with the ample job opportunities located so close to home,” said Mayor Arthur Vigeant.
“Over the past few years, Marlborough’s economic growth has attracted dozens of employers - big and small - to the city, and they’re looking to fill jobs at all levels,” said MEDC Executive Director Meredith Harris. “We’re committed to helping these local companies find the right talent, and our job fairs offer them the opportunity to network with a large number of jobseekers in one place at one time.”
Jobseekers with all levels of education and prior experience are invited to register in advance for the Marlborough Works! Job Fair for a chance to win one of three gift cards to local restaurants. Pre-registration for the Interview Workshops is required, and attendees must also be registered for the job fair to be eligible to participate.
