Altia Announces HMI Code Generation Support for New Renesas R-Car E3 System-on-Chip for Integrated Instrument Clusters
Colorado Springs, CO, October 20, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Altia announces HMI code generation support for the just-announced Renesas R-Car E3 system-on-chip (SoC). The combination of Altia and R-Car E3 SoC has been selected for global automotive OEM production programs. With the development of this new code generation target, Altia expands support of the R-Car SoC Family to include the full lineup of third-generation R-Car products for automotive HMIs, thus offering a single scalable solution for automotive programs utilizing R-Car SoCs.
“By cooperating with Altia on code generation software development to line up with the availability of the R-Car E3 hardware, Renesas and Altia offer our customers the opportunity to build the latest HMI innovations into their next-generation embedded displays. Our automotive customers have the opportunity to leverage Altia’s production-proven HMI solution that is tailored to the very latest Renesas hardware technology,” stated Masayasu Yoshida, Senior Director of Automotive Technical Customer Engagement Division, Renesas.
The Renesas R-Car E3 SoC delivers high-end 3D graphics on the largest class of displays used for automotive instrument clusters – 12.3 inches, 1,920 x 720 pixels. Combining the smooth 3D rendering capabilities with integrated audio DSP and other peripheral functions, the single-chip SoC supports instrument clusters as well as in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems with display audio and other capabilities.
To create an HMI for Renesas R-Car E3, Altia’s WYSIWYG user interface editor, Altia Design, integrates a variety of graphic assets into a single model. The Altia tool chain allows development teams to create powerful, custom displays with combined 2D and 3D content. Altia’s advanced 3D capabilities give developers incredible control of the 3D content in their HMI, as well as customizable shaders, an extensive materials library and a time-saving workflow. Once development is complete, Altia DeepScreen is used to generate production-ready C code that leverages the full strength of the R-Car E3 resources to deliver a powerful embedded user experience for production displays.
“Thanks to the unique architecture of Altia DeepScreen graphics code, Altia helps automotive companies deliver functionally safe, innovative graphical displays for cars at every price point. With Altia’s support of the full range of the Renesas R-Car SOCs, developers have the power to deliver stunning HMIs for entry level vehicles and beyond,” said Jason Williamson, Altia Vice President of Marketing. “Altia’s DeepScreen code generator for the R-Car E3 brings powerful features to entry-level HMIs – 3D, globalized fonts, functional safety features and more.”
