Local Dance Team Needs DMV Help
Howard University's Ooh La La Dance team wants your votes to help them win the 2nd Annual Radiant Danceoff, sponsored by HBCU Dance and Proctor and Gamble.
Washington, DC, October 23, 2018 --(PR.com)-- Howard University “Showtime” Marching Band’s famed Ooh La La! Dance Line is vying for a chance to win $20,000 and custom designed uniforms in the HBCU Dance Corporation/ Proctor & Gamble’s "Radiant Dance Off" online voting contest.
#HBCUDance #RadiantDanceOff Contest is a virtual dance competition offered to 2018 official female marching band dance teams of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) as nominated for participation by their current team director, sponsor, advisor or coach. This year’s music selection features Frankie Beverly & Maze’s “Before I Let Go.”
From today through October 29, 2018 the team is asking the DMV area to cast daily votes for them online at www.radiantdanceoff.com as they compete against 19 other teams. The contest limits votes to one per e-mail address per day.
The top five vote-getters will compete for the top prize of $20,000 and custom designed uniforms by "Harlem Heights" designer Briana Bigham.
Celebrating its 36th anniversary, the Ooh La La! Dance Line is the official dance team of Howard’s famed marching band, performing at football, basketball and other sports games, special University and Community Events. The band has performed for the President of the United States, at the dedication of the National Museum of African American History, Honda Battle of the Bands, Parades across the United States and abroad. Notably, the band will perform at the Washington Redskins vs Dallas Cowboys NFL game on October 21, 2018.
The band is led by Director, John E. Newson, Assoc Director, Kelvin Washington & Drum Major Christian Adkins.
Ooh La La! Dance Line is managed by Coordinator, Khristena Marcus and led by Captain, Mia Morris. Mia is a Senior, majoring in Biology/Chemistry and was a Prince George’s County IB honors graduate from Suitland High School. The team features scholars of various majors with training in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary and popular culture dance.
