iUniverse Announces the Release of Mary Ellen Erickson’s New Book, Geezettes: The Adventures of Seven Retired Women

New book explores romance and life in the golden years.

New York, NY, March 19, 2008 --(PR.com)-- With hundreds of thousands of Baby Boomers heading into their retirement years, a lot of emphasis is out there on living life to its fullest, no matter your age.

Living life to its fullest takes on a new meaning in author Mary Ellen Erickson’s new book, Geezettes: The Adventures of Seven Retired Women. The foxy main characters women portrayed in this book know that life doesn’t end once retirement hits.

In Geezettes, seven women—newbie snowbird Melva, big-hearted Judy, sweet homemaker Mary Jane, pious Alice, good-time girl Lola, cocktail-loving Doris, and man-hating Vicky—meet for the Old Broads Breakfast Club at their wintertime retirement community in Arizona. But on one particular morning, Melva has had enough. She’s done reminiscing about what life used to be like and ready to start living it again.

And she’s not the only one. The sixty-something retirees agree that it’s time to boost the excitement and passion in their lives. Their joint efforts to “spice things up” include steamy romance novels all around, “chick flicks,” and even a naughty girls’ night out at a Chippendales show.

“I am a ‘Geezette’ and so are most of my friends,” Erickson said. “I wanted to write a book that shows our side of life and that life doesn’t end when the working years do.”

Due to its editorial quality and commercial success, this title was recently selected into the coveted iUniverse Star Program. To become eligible for consideration into the Star Program, authors must first receive Editor’s Choice and Reader’s Choice designations and sell at least 500 copies, half of which must be sold through online or brick-and-mortar retailers. The program is designed to help the most successful iUniverse authors level the playing field in the marketplace through a number of benefits, such as industry-standard discounts, bookstore return ability, and a formal presentation to major retailers, including Barnes & Noble, for in-store placement.
