Former Lt. Governor Wicker Joins SZD of Ohio; Will Head Up Firm’s New Office in Raleigh

Wicker will oversee the opening of SZD’s new North Carolina office, based in Raleigh.

Raleigh, NC, March 20, 2008 --(PR.com)-- Schottenstein Zox & Dunn Co., LPA (SZD) is pleased to announce the addition of Dennis A. Wicker, former Lt. Governor of North Carolina, to its management team. Wicker will oversee the opening of SZD’s new North Carolina office, based in Raleigh.

“Adding someone with the stature of Dennis Wicker to the SZD team is a significant part of expanding our presence in North Carolina,” said Jim Davidson, president of SZD. “His reputation and prominence in the state gives SZD the immediate credibility we need to grow our business law practice there.”

SZD has more than 115 attorneys in offices in Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio. SZD Whiteboard, the consulting arm of SZD, first entered the Raleigh market a year ago with the establishment of a location offering economic development and site location services.

Wicker joins the firm from Helms, Mullis & Wicker in Raleigh, where he was a named partner and leader of the firm’s government relations practice. Prior to joining the firm in 2001, he served two four-year terms as Lt. Governor of North Carolina. He was a member of the N.C. House of Representatives for 12 years prior to becoming Lt. Governor, and during the last four years, he was elected House Majority Leader.

“Joining SZD is a move that appeals to my entrepreneurial nature,” said Wicker. “This is a great opportunity for me to take a new direction and to build and nurture a great firm.

“My role will be to lead the effort to advance SZD’s business law precedence, first in the Triangle then throughout North Carolina,” added Wicker.

Together with Wicker, 15 other attorneys and professionals will create SZD’s Raleigh office. David Otterson, currently a corporate attorney with Helms Mulliss, will serve as managing partner of the new location.

Plans call for the new Raleigh office to open April 1, 2008.
