Kids Need to Read and Highlights™: a Unique #GivingTuesday Partnership
While other nonprofit organizations ask for donations of funds on #GivingTuesday, Kids Need to Read enjoys a unique and highly successful partnership with Highlights to raise tens of thousands of magazines for distribution to disadvantaged children through the two agencies’ annual #GivingTuesday campaign. The magazines benefit Kids Need to Read’s literacy programs for children nationwide.
Mesa, AZ, November 26, 2018 --(PR.com)-- On Tuesday, November 27, Kids Need to Read will partner with Highlights for the fourth year during #GivingTuesday, an annual fundraising campaign conducted by nonprofits nationwide. While other nonprofit organizations ask for donations of funds on #GivingTuesday, Kids Need to Read enjoys a unique and highly successful partnership with Highlights to raise tens of thousands of children’s magazines for distribution to disadvantaged youth nationwide.
For every magazine subscription ordered on Tuesday, November 27, Kids Need to Read will receive twelve copies of Highlights or Highlights High Five™ to give to children in need of vital reading resources. This is a highly impactful endeavor, as last year the campaign resulted in over 53,600 free magazines and activity books valued at $267,564 for distribution to children living under challenging circumstances. Some of these children do not own a single book; others sometimes live without electricity and running water. Many have never had the opportunity to read such an engaging magazine.
“The magazines are powerful,” said Kids Need to Read Executive Director Denise Gary. “For this reason, Highlights and Highlights High Five magazines have become a crucial part of all of Kids Need to Read’s programs. Everywhere we go, everywhere we give, a Highlights or Highlights High Five magazine is put into every child’s hands. We have found the magazines to be among the most effective resources in enticing children to read and feel incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderfully impactful partnership with Highlights. What a magnificent tool in our work to help kids discover the power and joy of literacy!”
Kent Johnson, CEO for Highlights for Children, stated, “Highlights truly believes in the power of our two missions and is honored to continue the efforts to provide reading resources to children in need through the Kids Need to Read and #GivingTuesday initiative.”
Highlights is not only a highly respected resource in the world of children’s literacy but also a mainstay of growing up. The company currently offers four major publications. In addition to Highlights and Highlights High Five, they offer Highlights High Five Bilingüe™ for emerging readers who are learning either English or Spanish, as well as Highlights Hello™ for babies.
Everyone can help Kids Need to Read continue to provide this exceptional magazine to disadvantaged children throughout the nation by joining the fifth annual #GivingTuesday partnership with Highlights. On November 27th, Highlights will be offering magazine subscriptions starting at $9.99 at https://www.highlights.com/. Supporters will not only receive this wonderful literary resource for the children they love but will help provide an equal number of magazines to children in need, as well.
