Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation Donates $25K to Rise Against Hunger to Support Meal Packaging Events
Charitable donation will help support efforts to serve 180,000 meals in 5 American cities.
Houston, TX, December 07, 2018 --(PR.com)-- The Alliance for Physical Therapy Quality and Innovation (APTQI) today announced its support for Rise Against Hunger, a national nonprofit dedicated to ending hunger by 2030, by donating $25,000 to help feed Americans in need. The generous donation will be used to support one of Rise Against Hunger’s signature Meal Packaging Events in 5 cities: Atlanta, GA; Birmingham, AL; Chattanooga, TN; Kansas City, MO; and Harrisburg, PA. APTQI Executive Director Nick Patel presented the check to Rise Against Hunger today at their Houston packaging location.
In total, nearly 600 volunteers will come together to provide an estimated 180,000 meals (approximately 36,000 meals in each of the 5 cities). Rise Against Hunger’s Meal Packaging Events are a volunteer-based program that coordinates the streamlined packaging of highly nutritious dehydrated meals comprised of rice, soy, vegetables and 23 essential vitamins and minerals. After packaging, the meals are shipped to countries around the globe and distributed to beneficiaries in critical need.
“As advocates for good health and wellness, we are proud to help address hunger, an issue that impacts individuals and families across the globe,” said Nick Patel, Executive Director of APTQI. “The APTQI is proud to support Rise Against Hunger’s Meal Packaging Events to continue our commitment to charitable giving.”
Rise Against Hunger operates meal packaging locations in 25 cities throughout the U.S., including Houston, and five international locations in South Africa, Malaysia, the Philippines, Italy and India. In the past year, more than 398,000 volunteers from corporations, churches, schools and civic organizations packaged Rise Against Hunger meals. Since 1998, volunteers in the U.S. and worldwide have packaged more than 439 million meals and provided aid in the form of emergency relief, medical supplies, clothing, school supplies and more to people in need.
